Around 90% of the UK adult population reads newspapers and magazines with print publications still reaching more people than phones and tablets, a new industry-wide audience measurement system has found.

The figures released today from the Aria Y White Gold Necklace Melissa Kaye TeqnE
follows a three-year search to produce a transparent method of measuring readership across all print and electronic devices.

The Sun tops first PAMCo data

The PAMCo data, replacing the previous National Readership Survey, uses the latest measurement techniques, together with 35,000 face-to-face interviews, to give a total audience reach figure. Advertisers had called for a more accurate representation of real readership.

The first figures show that The Sun has replaced the Daily Mail /Mail Online as the UK’s most widely read newspaper across print and online.

The Sun has a monthly total brand reach of 33.3m readers compared to 31.2m for the Mail. The Sun edged ahead of its rival through its fast-growing phone readership. The Mirror papers are the third most widely read.

The figures show that local and regional titles such as The Scotsman (1.9m) and Yorkshire Post (1.1m) – owned by Johnston Press, publishers of i – enjoy a much wider total audience reach due to a rising number of digital readers.

Figures for the period up to the end of 2017, show the i recorded a total brand reach of 2.467 million readers. A rapid growth in the inews.co.uk website audience will be reported in the next PAMCo data.

The first figures show that established media brands which have built trust with readers have even more influence in an era of “fake news”.

Although those age 15-34 prefer to read content on digital devices, they retain an attachment towards print papers.

Interest in blockchain is soaring, with a groundswell of activity taking place on the campuses of the world’s top universities. From new business use cases such as making cross-border payments faster, lower cost and more transparent to uses of blockchain for good, students and faculty globally are emerging as major contributors to the creation of a more robust and valuable blockchain and payments ecosystem.

As one of the most mature companies in the space, Ripple is uniquely suited to partner with the academic community and help lead development of this ecosystem. That’s why, today, we’re excited to announce the University Blockchain Research Initiative (UBRI), a collaboration with top universities around the world to support and accelerate academic research, technical development and innovation in blockchain, cryptocurrency and digital payments.

Ripple has committed over $50 million in funding, subject matter expertise and technical resources to UBRI’s first wave of university partners 17 prestigious institutions around the world. These schools will determine their own research topics and priority areas of focus, while also partnering with Ripple to:

The initial UBRI partners represent a broad cross-section of geographies and markets, as well as a rich blend of academic disciplines.

For example, as the regulatory conversation continues to evolve in the public sector, the Center for Information Technology Policy (CITP) at Ando Monokel Eyewear Bridge Sunglasses in Khaki Mens Reiss 1lgDr
is creating an UBRI program that will study the policy impact of cryptocurrencies and blockchain in the U.S. and around the world.

At The University of Pennsylvania , UBRI is supporting select MBA-MS candidates each year in a newly established Wharton-Engineering dual-degree program. This funding aims to prioritize students working on blockchain or cryptocurrency.

As part of UBRI, Ripple is also participating in MIT Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Lab’s new FinTech initiative made up of a nearly a dozen companies across the financial services industry to work with groups of CSAIL’s 116+ researchers on topics like blockchain, cryptocurrencies, cybersecurity and global payments.

In Europe, Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands and the University of Luxembourg are building a new blockchain research program inside their Departments of Computer Science and Engineering with the help of UBRI.

UBRI’s complete list of partners is as follows:

As the traditional backbone of innovation, universities uniquely offer an independence and rigor that the private sector cannot. They also are responsible for training the workforce of the future, helping to address the demand for technological solutions and talent to solve the world’s hardest financial problems.

Now is the perfect time to support research and study in blockchain, cryptocurrency and digital payments at universities around the world.

This opportunity to drive rapid innovation and economic growth, and with it a return to prosperity growth, comes none too soon. The past decade has been characterized by internal cost reduction, cautious investment, higher corporate profitability, rising MA, and muted innovation across large parts of the economy. This path has resulted in slower job growth, slower improvements in wages and living standards for the average citizen, a diminished sense of economic opportunity, doubts about capitalism, and reduced public support for business.

The era of smart, connected products can change this trajectory, provided that companies move aggressively to embrace the opportunity. Business and government together will need to equip workers across all groups with the skills to participate, and agree on the rules and regulations needed to set standards, enable innovation, protect data, and overcome efforts to block progress (such as auto dealers’ political opposition to Tesla).

The United States stands to lead and benefit disproportionately in a smart, connected products world, given America’s strengths in the core underlying technologies, many of the skills required, and key supporting industries. If this new wave of technology allows the U.S. to reinvigorate its capacity as a technology leader in the global economy, it will breathe new life into the American dream while contributing to a better world.

Everyone associates the IoT with devices and products that directly connect to the internet using sensors, wifi and communicate with other things directly. We’re excited about the larger opportunity of including everyday ordinary products and things like food, beverages, cosmetics, personal care products, sporting goods, books etc turning them into smart products that can participate in the IoT.Here’s a link to a book we published earlier this year on the “Internet of Products” or a broader view of IoT https://www.qliktag.com/the-internet-of-products-book/
